Job Description

As a Software Engineer in our Search Optimization team, you will be part of a cross-functional group dedicated to building and scaling Traveloka’s search technology. You’ll play a key role in designing and implementing search-related projects that power new products, enable business growth, support market expansion, and improve process efficiency. You will also identify and resolve pain points in existing systems by developing robust, reliable, and scalable solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and delivering best-in-class search architecture, algorithms, and solutions to improve query relevance, ranking, indexing, and retrieval performance.
• Driving end-to-end optimization of search systems to enhance speed, accuracy, scalability, and user experience.
• Applying data-driven approaches to improve query understanding, personalization, and relevance tuning.
• Providing technical leadership within the team by sharing expertise, reviewing designs/code, and removing roadblocks to help engineers succeed.
• Partnering closely with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to experiment, evaluate, and deploy improvements that make search more intelligent and impactful.
• Leverage and explore new ideas to drive innovation across search results
• Mentor and guide the team's engineering decision. Raising the technical bar and serving as a technical expert for search and discovery topics.
• Work with stakeholders to anticipate future needs and design systems with longevity in mind.
• Partner closely with stakeholders to drive technical alignment across multiple teams, products, or domains.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Passionate in driving research to enhance our search and discovery capability.
• Experience (8+ years) in software engineering development.
• Strong knowledge and experience in using Java.
• Strong object-oriented analysis and design skills.
• Experience in search and related technologies.
• Experience in RDBMS/NoSQL along with cloud knowledge.
• Experience in creating a robust and highly scalable system
• Excellent written, presentation, communication, mentorship skills, influence skills, and shows personal maturity.
• Excellent in problem solving, analytical, and possess helicopter view
• Excellent in crafting solution, creating proof-of-concept, and ensuring the delivery on timely basis
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams with excellent stakeholder management
